One-hour Art Therapy Sessions

for Children

With 38 years experience working with children and young people experiencing challenges in their lives, I know I can make a difference for your young person.

I bring a deep commitment to helping young people develop into healthy, confident individuals who are aware of their own strengths and are able to access the resources they need, to grow and flourish in today's world.

I have a wealth of experience in inclusive and trauma-informed practices which I naturally incorporate into the individual session planning. These practices combined with art therapy processes, allow the young people I work with to feel safe, comfortable and understood, the first steps in developing a therapeutic relationship, where healing and growth can blossom.

I can work with your young person on-line via Zoom... ... OR face-to-face (if in the Warwick Qld, Australia area).

It's going to work like this:
Intake form

We want to take advantage of the entire one-hour session, so I will ask you to fill out an intake form prior to our first session. This information will assist me in tailoring sessions to suit your young person's particular needs and preferences. If they are capable of completing it themselves, I would be delighted if they did this, but regardless of who completes the first page, it is important that the young person is involved in answering the questions and that they complete the second page themselves.

On-line: ZOOM Video call

I provide a link via email, prior to the session, to join a meeting.

During the first call, I will listen as your child provides as much information as they want about the presenting issue from their perspective.

If appropriate we may do some psycho-education to help them understand their feelings, thinking and behaviour. We may use some self-regulation tools such as breathing and moving to help get into a relaxed state.

Then I will suggest a creative process (based on the art supplies available to you) that may help your child explore and find new perspectives and answers to the issues raised.

We then look for further insight in the artwork before closing the session with an action or transition object to help with transference of the learning into their lives.
